“This ceramic artwork, bent of a clay slab and changing from 2D to 3D, condenses the theme of emotional and genetical relationships into two principal points of view. The figurative front illustrates the emotional and family relations of the couple under a roof. The symbolic back with the motifs of DNA and the Tree of Life shows the genetic aspect of the bond between the two people. The motifs on the symbolic side follow the pattern of the protective signs that have been used on many pots since ancient times. A snake winding on the bulge of the Hungarian country style jug called Miskakancso (“Mickey Jug”) ensures that the wine in it has healing power. The folk art style painting of these symbols refers to this tradition. Through the lacy tracery light filters into the figurative side.”

“My unique technique, with the flat plane turning into a three dimensional space, therefore allowing us to look the artwork from different viewpoints and see different aspects, gives expression to the universality and complexity of how the meaning of a single concept transforms through different viewpoints. It also represents how our perception is limited and we can observe only a few of all the dimensions. These views – though often clashing, finally complete each other and together form the whole.”
